Bad advice - or judgement?

I can't believe Cameron is repeating the same mistake by taking a well-reported tragic incident and attempting to twist it to his political advantage.

You'll remember he was hammered for trying to attack Labour over the Karen Matthews affair. He made out that all people on benefits have the potential to fake their children's abduction to get money!

Now he's done the same thing again, seizing on the Edlington, Doncaster attacks as being an example of the 'social recession' in Britain. Never mind that the parents of the attackers, as Ed Balls pointed out, were married.

I also notice that he made the speech not in the North but in Kent.

This was a really sad case and I can't begin to excuse the actions of these kids. But to highlight it as an example of Cameron's much beloved 'Broken Britain' is offensive, patronising and just plain wrong.

Read between the lines. He's once again looking down his nose at northern families. And northern working class families at that.

So is it bad judgement or bad advice?

It's quite clear Cameron's spin doctor Andy Coulson, the former News of the World editor who was sacked after his reporters hacked private phone calls, is telling him this is a good idea. "It'll get you coverage in the Sun. It'll tap into public anger."

Does it hell!

All it does is show how shallow and out of touch Cameron and his team really are. Chasing tabloid headlines for the sake of it.

It's the same with marriage tax breaks. All it does is stigmatise the children of unmarried parents and to really rub the salt in, they'll have to subsidise the married couples - no matter how much they earn!

From that poster, to marriage tax breaks to this, Cameron's making BIG mistakes.

And it's a question that people will come back to time and time again.

"Can we really trust this man to run the country?"
