I'm still making last minute preparations for the Prescott Express tour that starts this Friday (May Day) in Liverpool.

By the way, that story in the News of the World claiming the party wouldn't insure our battle bus was typical press prattle. As we always said, we're raising money for this tour by ourselves as we don't want to be a drain to the party. So no such discussion even took place. But there you go - it's still publicity I suppose.

Thanks again to those who keep chipping in money for the tour. Pat sent me a Facebook message to say she couldn't get out that much but if I was prepared to give up my Bank Holiday to campaign for Labour, she'd chip in some money for the petrol. Thank you so much Pat.

We've even had a company offering to give us a PA system for the van free of charge. That's what I love about social networks - people collectively coming together to help out for a cause.

Anyway, it now seems that true giant of the Labour movement Jack Jones will be laid to rest on May Day. So it will be fitting that we launch this tour on the same day in his home town of Liverpool.
