Get on the bus

Just putting the final touches to our Prescott Express Bank Holiday Tour that starts on May 1.

Have to say Emma Hoddinott, one of our excellent euro candidates in Yorkshire and the Humber has done a fantastic but that part of the leg together. They also have an excellent site.

As I said, Eddie Izzard is going to launch our tour in Liverpool and we've even apparently got coverage in Hello Magazine. Beat that Compass!

The reaction we had from the Young Labour Conference this weekend was fantastic. I know I'm more old man than Obama, but I was delighted from the response from the delegates.

(Excuse the wind on the film!)

I set them the task of joining one new member. Today I received a Facebook message from a friend saying that he hadn't managed to recruit one - he'd got five.

After my speech we all went off campaigning for my good friend Paul Clark on Gordon Road of all places! Joining us was Sam Tarry, Young Labour's dynamic new chair ("Those doorsteps won't know what's hit them")and Steph Peacock our excellent NEC youth rep.

These young people have such a passion and drive that really is life affirming for people like me and puts to shame the juvenile antics of others.

So feel free to donate to our tour. We aim to raise the money ourselves and if you'd like to chip in, we'd really appreciate it.

good to see that you will be back on a mini version of the Battle Bus JP, set the satnav to come to Halifax though, Linda Riordan is a brilliant MP and despite what her predecessor said last weekend, lots has been achieved by this Labour Govt. We're worried about the threat from BNP at Euro elections.

Being (as you say) and "Old Man" now - do you get a free bus pass for this - or is it, as usual, down to us taxpayers to foot the bill for your possible last ego trip? Bet you won't dare publish this one - as you are all cowards.

While your out and about stop off in Durham and give me a refund on the 50 years Political Levy I paid from joining the Boilermakers and Iron Shipbuilders, now the GMB, in 1956 up untill I retired a couple of years ago.
I though I contributing to a political party which would look after the working class, not the bunch of parasites and hangers on now in power.

When the bus arrives in Barnsley pop in the NUM offices up Huddersfield Road and explain how you are going to put the following in order.

Cannock Chase Retired Miners and Officials Association.

Miners pensions issues, - Worse than we thought.

Further research by our Chairman/ Financial spokesman, ( Jack Snape ) has revealed that the amount of money that they take from us out of our pensions schemes is worse than we originally thought.
Using the same principle of combining the total amounts paid in by both the M.P.S. and the BCSSS, and dividing it by the number of days, Jack has informed us that - FOR THE LAST ELEVEN YEARS,! - THE DAILY AVERAGE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT GOVERNMENT HAVE RECEIVED FROM OUR PENSION SCHEMES IS £1.01 MILLION POUNDS - A DAY,! - THAT IS EVERY DAY - FOR ELEVEN YEARS.!

Following that revalation, I have again received a letter from an M.P. which encloses a reply from the Minister of State in charge of our pensions, - Lord Hunt of Kings Heath, - who describes our pensions agreement as " Inherently fair."
According to our figures, the Government now have £4.14 BILLION, of miners money sitting in the Treasury, and more, much more, to come from us.

Mick Westwood.
