Hold on Hannan

I must say I find the internet sensation caused by Dan Hannan's speech to the European Parliament remarkable.

Normally, an obscure Eurosceptic Tory MEP would not get any coverage for a rant against the Prime Minister in the mainstream media. And it proved to be the case. None of the networks or the newspapers originally covered it.

But once he uploaded it onto YouTube it took off. Firstly it got upto 30,000 hits after being promoted by Guido Fawkes on his website. Then it exploded in the US once it was put on the Drudge Report site. The mainstream media were then forced to cover it and it has now been seen by more than a million people.

I think this is a perfect example of the power shift away from the mainstream media to the internet. Instead of having to get past the editorial filter of journalists and editors, people are starting to set the news agenda and the hacks are having to catch up.

Though I didn't get anyway near his hits, I discovered this change for myself when I was asked for comment on Peter Mandelson's attack. Instead of going to the tv or the papers, I just did a vlog and got it out there without being edited.

Obviously I don't agree with a word Hannan said but it shows the world is changing and the media is too. And that's a good thing.

Anyway, we thought we'd have a bit of fun with his speech.

So, anyway.

Are you going to do a piece on Go4th on the antics of Jacqui Spliff?

No? I thought not.

Isn't she a complete embarrassment? Isn't she typical of the Champagne socialists, of which you are one?
Isn't she a disgrace to the electorate, and to the "honest" politicians?

Isn't it great to see this current crock of corrupt government going down the plug hole? (Bath plug - costs 88p - ask Jacqui).

Scum - all of you NuLabour felchers.

John,

Labour MP Nigel Griffiths has been 'ecconomical with the truth' in the High Court. His bid to SILENCE the News of the World's TRUE revelations of his antics inside the House of Commons.

New Labour, this is your party John. Abuse of power, money and morals.
Roll on 2010, is your seat safe John?

2/10 for effort regarding the video, a poor effort indeed.
Maybe your IT wizards would like to manipulate the appearance of Derek Draper on the Daily Politics.
You surely must have dress code.
If ever there was a reason for NOT voting ZANULABOUR surely he was it.
A wash, shave, comb, tie, could all be superimposed, giving an altogether different impression.
Adobe Photoshop can work wonders.
Any appearance of this lout in the media must have the electorate flocking to the Torys in droves.

John quite frankly the reason you only get a few hundred hits is that NO ONE IS INTERESTED in the cr-- that comes out of your mouth! Hannan said in 3 minutes what millions of people throughout the USA and UK have wanted to say for months. The fact that the Prime Minister grins like a scolded school boy and doodles like a three year old shows how demented he is. Looking through your website it would be reasonable to say you have VERY LITTLE SUPPORT from anyone. You must acknowledge that... or dont you read the comments (or post the ones that are so close to the truth - like this one!!)

Spin Spin Spin yes you are right John it did come to an end when the Blogging and Vlogging started on the internet because it makes more fun to instantly respond to silly arguments.

Kylie Minogue had to change her style also from lyrics to wrap

I’m spinning around spinning around
Move out of my way; do you like it that way?

I’m spinning around spinning around
Move out of my way; do you like it that way?

Financial crisis, get out my way
Unemployment, get out o my way
Education, Education, get out my way
Homelessness, get out my way
G20 get out my way

As a recent convert to modern media Mr Prescott needs to understand just why it is that Daniel Hannan get millions of hits for his speech and he gets a few hundred. This is called democracy.

We the British people are fed up to teh back teeth with being told how we should live our lives by a bunch unemployable of prats - Conservative as well as Labour (both New and Neanderthal).

The truth is that on the internet people find blogs and wikis that reinforce their own beliefs. The internet is not a modern soapbox and the days of politics being the domain of monkeys with megaphones and red rosettes are over.

Now to prove my point, I have a bet with my American blogging pal that you'll censor or refuse to publish this post.

If that was GoFourth's response to a masterful speech by Mr. Hannan then you have come a very PoorSecond !
As I understand it, Brown does nt often go to the European Parliament except when he slyly signs up to Treaties for which we were promised a referendum.
So it must have been quite a shock for him to have to sit in silence, listening to a very articulate, three minute account of how his Tax,Spend & Borrow policies are turning Great Britain into a Banana Republic. Also, there was no Mr. Speaker there to rescue Gordon from this verbal battering. The truth hurts and soon, hopefully, the electorate will get their 'three minutes' in the Polling Booths all over the country to put you all out of your ( and our ) misery...
We can't wait.

I haven't watched your video - but your comments about hannan are most telling, you say it would not normally have got coverage -- but it is clear there is a massive public appetite for it.

Why do you think the media - especially the BBC who finally mentioned Hannan, but on an obscure bbc lunchtime progamme - are putting over the governments agenda and ignoring the publics interests?

Looks like we are in for a summer of discontent. Looks like that FSA guarantee for the Icelandic money might come in useful for strike pay.

Fight fire with fire is our motto in South Yorkshire if you want to change our pattern of working.

The FBU said firefighters currently work longer hours than any other public service and any shift changes would damage family life causing problems with arranging childcare, especially for single parent families.

The FBU, said: "Being forced to start work at eight in the morning and finish at eight at night will mean making childcare arrangements for a possible 13-hour day.

"It will cause particular problems for women when we are trying to recruit and keep women in the fire service. Over 98% of firefighters have repeatedly said they are opposed to the plans and their concerns have been dismissed".

As required by law, a formal notice of the intention to have a vote has been given to the clerk of the fire authority. The FBU said the earliest any action could take place would be May.

Hope it doesn't come to strike action
Firemen do a great job--The job is risky but the training is first class.

I don't believe there would be support if it's a strike over hours--
The unemployed wouldn't understand that.

I have supported and marched with the FBU in the Thatcher era
We cared about the right to work for everybody There was 3million unemployed and I'm proud of all the Firemen and the FBU who protested and demonstrated against her.

Dear Go Fourth,

Just looked at the new video.

Please define 'fun'.

It looks more like a desperate attempt at attacking the man and not the argument.

Keep on digging, er, for victory!

Still, good luck with the hit-rates.
