Twittering away

As you know as Labour's Cyber Warrior, I am at the cutting edge of modern technology. Facebook, blogging, vlog - I'm doing them all.

Now it's all about twittering - that micro blogging website where you say in just a few words what you're doing.

I've been using my Facebook update to do the same thing for my Go Fourth Facebook friends. I used it on the train the other day after discovering they didn't have any hot food - only such delights as cold barbecued pineapple. I got 28 responses with one person saying 'John - man cannot live by pineapple alone.'

Anyway, I've been on Twitter for a week and now the party has developed a new feature for my colleagues. It means when Labour MPs add things to their sites, a tweet (that's a message) will be sent out to people telling them there's something new to see.

We've actually been using it on our site and it's working well - so you can now follow me and be told when there's a new blog post by going to  www.twitter.com/johnprescott

You can even follow Alastair and get the latest on his many meetings with Alex Ferguson and his IronMan Triathlons - he's at http://twitter.com/campbellclaret

I hear the Tories are getting in on the act too - apparently you can now follow the Shadow Chancellor at www.upperclasstwitter.com/georgeosborne

I've even been told Ken Clarke's walking around in his Hush Puppies with a Blackberry!

It's hard being a trendsetter!

I am pleased to see the only decent labour blog that of Tom Harris is resisting your takeover.
I think he is that rare breed. an independent Labour thinker.
He has been so refreshing in that you can communicate with him.
