Welcome to 2.0 Jags!

Well this time last year, I didn't have a clue about blogging or Facebook - I could just about get my head round email.

But since being introduced to web 2.0,  it's opened me up to whole new way of talking and listening to people.

So after posting articles on a few other sites like Labourhome.org, I've made it my New Year Resolution to take the plunge and launch my own blog, The Prescott Express on our own Go Fourth site.

I hope I can give a few insights into our campaign to secure that Labour Fourth Term along with guest blogs from Glenys, Alastair, Dick and others.

But just as importantly, we want to provide you with a platform to have your say.

I'll speak my mind on this blog and won't be afraid to say it how I see it but I hope you enjoy it and please do leave comments. (But please keep it clean!)

Don't forget to sign up to Alastair's to-do list. He'll be sending out a weekly email on what you can do to help secure a Labour victory in the local, euro and general elections.

We're passionate that this campaign should be run by supporters for supporters and gofourth.co.uk will be our virtual battle bus.

Thanks and remember to always Go Fourth!

JP

I hope you'll give us your candid opinions. We know you too well after all these years not to see through it if you just tow the party line. Remember, it's your bluntness that we like about you.

Good luck with the new blog.

Welcome to the blog-o-sphere! Can I just say that I really enjoyed your class programme some time back? As a working-class lad involved in running a small business around politics I found it heartening to know that our roots do not have to be a barrier.

OK, good start and and let's not do a typical Labour trick of strangling new approaches at birth. To part-quote the new kid in Washington, we have to offer hope and action to our activists and the electorate - and this is the start. Bring it on!

Noble sentiments Gary, however that will mean Labour have to be seen to answer their critics.

The efforts in this department so far have been - to completely understate it - less than impressive.

Grassroots site John? My a£! Look at Toryhome or whatver they call it. where's the user generated content here? The videos? the blogs? the mailing lists, the dissent? We've less than 18 months until Flash gordon has to take on Cameroon and this is the best we can do online. We're doomed to years of exile at this rate.

Hi Malcolm,

We've only just begun so bear with us.

We'll be adding more and more content as we go, ideally from our supporters. If you've got a video, send it to us. We want our supporters fully involved.

Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

JP

I think the myprofile bit is where the most improvement is needed. That way people can have their own blogs and be able to create their own groups that campaign on the issues that they feel strongly about. Also hopefully there will be the capacity to arrange your own campaigning events by finding fellow supporters who live near you and getting them involved.

I think the blog and comment element is very important, but I think it will be really useful and uniting if you can organise events off your own back through the website.

The use of the website to allow people to arrange their own face to face campaigning events is what I'd like to see more of.

John,
can you give me one single reason why I'd want to vote Labour in next election?

Thanks.

Not a single reason?

Oh dear.

This site is going really well - almost as inactive as the Department of Transport when Prescott was in charge there!
